Assured Inniscarra book Semi-Final Spot

Defending champions Inniscarra cruised into a final four spot when they overcame a tenacious and hardworking Cloughduv outfit that ultimately had no answer to the Inniscarra fire power of Niamh Dilworth and Niamh McCarthy who amassed 10 points between them in the SE Systems Cork Camogie Senior Championship Quarter Final fixture at Castle Road on Saturday last.

Inniscarra got off to a dream start when an opportunistic long ball into the square by Ellen Murphy was mishandled by Cloughduv net minder Aoife Murray and the sliotar popped into the net.  Cloughduv rallied, however, and responded through Niamh O’Leary on 5 when she pointed a 45 metre free.

Three unanswered Inniscarra points in four minutes via Dilworth from play and a free and McCarthy witnessed the defending champions power into a five point lead before O’Leary slotted over a 45 metre placed ball to pull one back for Cloughduv on 10.

The unerring Dilworth fired over a long range free before Suzanne Bateman fired over a great effort from play to see Cloughduv trail by four on the quarter mark.

Two Dilworth placed balls put six between the sides before she forced Murray into a superb diving save after unleashing a goal bound shot on 30 minutes.  Inniscarra retained the six point lead at half time 1-06 to 0-03.

Rebecca Keane and Bateman exchanged points before a McCarthy brace pushed Inniscarra eight clear on 42.

Bateman pulled one back for Cloughduv on the three quarter mark when she pointed a 45 metre free, however, 4 points without reply from Inniscarra had them 11 clear with 57 on the clock.  McCarthy, Claudia Keane, and two points from Dilworth, one from play and one free went unanswered in an eight minute spell before Niamh O’Leary blasted over from close range to turn the scoreboard for Cloughduv, however, it made no inroad to the Inniscarra lead that saw them run out victorious 1-13 to 0-06.
